Hindenburg audio software was co-founded by Nick Dunkerley, a Danish radio journalist, sound engineer, and former producer, and Preben Madsen, a software engineer. Their collaboration began in the late 2000s during a community radio project in Africa, where Dunkerley expressed frustration over the lack of intuitive audio editing tools tailored for storytellers. This led to the creation of Hindenburg Systems in 2009, based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
