In 2015, Zainab became the firts Afghan woman to complete the Afghan marathon. Unable to train outside due to threats, she prepared in her small backyard - yet on race day, she took her place on the rugged mountain course of Bamiyan.
Her strides were more than athletic; they were an act of quiet defiance in a society where women are often pushed indoors - where running became a way to reclaim space, freedom, and hope.
